Problem: Solar Renewable Energy Credits (SRECs) in the US are verified on a quarterly and annual basis by Green-e.org via a balance sheet accounting method. A smart-contract dApp could be developed to verify SRECs from the Distributed Energy Resources (DER) providers in real time via a utility token. This will ensure greater accuracy in certification and increase granularity in the SREC market. While one SREC currently equals one megawatt of solar-produced power, Green-e may choose to verify and certify kWh-SRECs for retail buyers. This concept differs from PowerLedger because it focuses on a unique market segment. Given the unique regulatory issues in the US, it would be wiser to work with industry leaders to develop a dApp they can own and control. This may not represent an ideal definition of decentralization from a governance perspective. However, using a decentralized dApp for Distributed Energy Resources just makes sense.

I come from a country where the rigging of election is very common among top politicians, and am sure we all know how important voting is when it comes to the issue of making sure there is fair representation and equal voice in the process of decision making. This issue of potential rigging and lack of transparency has gone a long way to discourage a lot of people from voting at all since they were of the belief that their votes doesn't count. I think blockchain will be very useful in this area because it will help promote transparency, address security issues, which in turn makes rigging impossible and bring fairness to voting and decision making. I think the registration and eligibility of voters can be done manually. After confirming that a voter is eligible, the voter can then be assigned a private key which will alllow them to be able to vote only once. With this, I think we should have a free and fair election.
You have definitely identified an important problem particularly in corrupt regimes. Point for identifying something that needs to be corrected.
While blockchain isn't necessary, the power of a public ledger offers significant transparency.
Regarding originality, the concept isn't entirely new. If you can come up with a unique approach to overcome security concerns, then you'll have a valuable dApp!
The added value would be to allow voting in one's district from any location. Even in the US, some state and local governments make it difficult for voters to find their voting location. Everyone should be allowed to vote from home.
Farming in my locality is the major occupation and in my family farming is our major source of income my parents are hard core farmers and for me farming is not just an occupation it’s has become passionate for me reason I applied to study agricultural science in college and taking this course is an eye opener for me on how farmers in my locality can benefit from this technology. Farming is an essential means of survival for every economy and farmers are the major source of sustenance for every economy my major is we don’t get actual value for our labor. Government and third party bodies has come around to implement policies to help purchase farm products in bulk to encourage farmers but with my exposure the entire process is not transparent and to me its fraudulent. They buy from us at a low rate as third parties and sell at high rates, they sometimes come back to complain of product spoilage and ask for refunds that is a loss to the farmer. Blockchain technology can aid the recording of farm produce value, weight and possibly record lifespan before spoilage from time of harvest and also through smart contracts with a blockchain enabled weigh machine carried out by the details of farm products stored on the blockchain creating an automated payment issuing directly to farmers. This can be carried out through a dapp that also houses a wallet also tied to the entire process to enable direct payment to farmers.
This reminds me of blockchain projects which aim to verify the original source of diamonds, thus verifying whether the diamond is a "blood diamond" or not. Your concept is a good supply chain management concept for small famers. You may want to check out XChain2 (https://blockchainsupplychain.io/#about). I think these folks are designing for corporations, though. If you can carve a niche out for small farmers, you'll really have something. Also, you might want to think about a dApp for cattle in African nations. There's a lot of cattle rustling there, so the problem is even more obvious.
Last week an America rapper by name nipsey hussle who represented hope for his society and community, who embarked on projects to help young ones in the community get technological skills to aid them attain great technological heights was murdered at about noon by a young folk who had possession of fire arms. Arms proliferation has grown to become a big issue in the society and further more we find arms in the possession of wrong persons and this leads to senseless killings, I believe blockchain technology can help reduce arms proliferation through recording every bit of transaction involved in arms distribution from production to licensing of dealers and distributors, transportation and final purchase recorded on the blockchain through developing a blockchain system for tracking how arms are distributed and ensuring folks underaged do not purchase guns and also criminals do not have access to arms and illegal purchases through blockchain enabled identification and if criminals get possession or arms are used wrongly it would be able to trace through how this arms got to the wrong hands to aid investigation purposes, it becomes easier to bring the criminal to book. Also the application smart contracts would be useful here also, imagine if information is stored to the blockchain, licensing of dealers, distribution checks and purchase is recorded and carried out using blockchain technology and smart contracts our society can become safe. Nipsey is just one of those who was affected by this menace, blockchain technology could help reduce this menace.
This is certainly an ambitious proposal. Creating a dApp would be the easiest part of this. The hardest part would be getting the American gun industry to go along with the idea. Maybe the time for change is coming.
So, this would work perfectly with RFID guns. Maybe you should check out these guys (https://www.iguntechnology.com/). Just a heads-up, I think this company is more interested in preventing gun theft than preventing violence.
I think you should get full points/cash for ambition. Just to propose something as politically controversial as this should be rewarded.
