Blockchain technology would be useful for insurance companies and health care providers. Not all health care providers (ie. dental offices, chiropractors, massage therapists, acupuncture, etc) provide direct billing to the insurance companies for employees as the insurance companies they accept direct billing for differs. This means there is inconsistency in accessibility in services. Though an employee is eligible for x amount of dollars in a service for the year, it may not fit one's budget to pay $100 out of pocket to pay for the service, as there is sometimes a 3-5 business day delay while waiting for the insurance company to process it and send the money to one's bank account. With using blockchain technology, this can speed up the process of payments going through quickly, and the employee doesn't have to wait 3-5 business days to receive their reimbursement for insurance claims and still receive the service they are eligible for through their place of employment. This can also prevent any insurance claim frauds if blockchain can control what the funds are being spent on, saving money for insurance companies and maintaining the integrity of their service while helping employees gain access to their employee benefits without any added stress of delayed reimbursed payments.
